SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Oprah Winfrey received the Santa Barbara International Film Festival's Montecito Award. She was being recognized for her performance in Lee Daniel's The Butler and her life's work.

Winfrey made her acting debut in 1985 in Steven Speilberg's The Color Purple, for which she received both Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations. 

A two-hour tribute was held at the Arlington Theater.
