SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. -

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo officials said Friday, the missing man is a student from the university. He is identified as Stefan Wagner, a biomedical engineering major from Fresno.

The search for Wagner began at 4:49 p.m. Thursday but was then called off that evening. Divers resumed searching Friday morning in the ocean area where the man was last seen.

Cal Fire responded to a report of a man who jumped into the ocean and never resurfaced. Emergency crews responded to the ocean area at Spooner's Cove in Montana de Oro State Park.

Cal Fire SLO received the call at 4:49 p.m. Its urban search and rescue team searched the sea until sundown, then called off the search for the night. USAR was assisted by Morro Bay Harbor Patrol, Coast Guard and a CHP helicopter.
