OXNARD, Calif. -

It's National Nurses Week.

The week, full of special events to honor nurses, runs through May 12, which happens to be Florence Nightingale's birthday.  Nightingale is considered the founder of modern nursing.

The Magnolia Family Clinic in Oxnard held a catered luncheon for nurses today.

Debra Shay called nurses the backbone of hospitals and clinics.

Doctors shouldn't feel left out.

They were honored with their own week in March.
