SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Santa Barbara Zoo is ready to reveal the latest attraction in one of the worlds most beautiful zoos, the new Discovery Pavilion.

The $7.5 million project is 30 years in the making and fully supported by public donations. New classroom space, an art gallery and animal kitchen, all on view to the public, will officially open Saturday.

"We're really excited about this space," zoo CEO Rich Block said. "It gives us an opportunity to not only expand out educational program, but it also gives us an additional venue that people might want to use for private events."

The new education center will serve the popular zoo camp and adult programs as well as special events throughout the year.
