CAMARILLO, Calif. -

A new aviation program is taking off at Santa Barbara Business College.

It is a two-year, Associate of Science Aviation program.  The inaugural class takes off in October.

The course provides students with the theory and flight time required to earn a total of five aviation licenses, including a commercial pilot for a single engine and commercial pilot for a multi-engine.

The new degree was formed in response to a recent industry forecast.  It projects almost half a million new commercial airline pilots will be needed, world-wide, in the next 20 years.

"We have been a career oriented college for the 125 years we have been in business so this fits our wheelhouse very well to train people for a specific outcome as a commercial pilot," said SBBCollege President Matthew Johnston.
