SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

A former congressional aide accused of killing a woman while driving drunk reached a plea agreement.

Raymond Morua appeared in Santa Barbara County Superior Court Tuesday morning.

Santa Barbara County Deputy District Attorney Arnie Tolks said the 32-year-old pleaded guilty to DUI gross vehicular manslaughter, admitted to two prior DUI convictions and fleeing the scene of a crime.

The defendant faces a total of 20 years to life sentence in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 28.

Morua hit and killed 27-year-old Mallory Dies while she was crossing the street in downtown Santa Barbara in December of 2013.
