Mudflow victims offered free emergency eyeglasses

Eyeglass Factory taking care of all needs

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara Eyeglass Factory is offering free glasses for anyone who was a victim of the Montecito mudflow disaster and does not have their glasses.

Eyeglass Factory owner Rick Feldman said he was heartbroken over the events in his community and was evacuated himself.

His business locations in Santa Barbara, Ventura and Camarillo are still open and technicians are making glasses daily.

An annual promotion in December for children was canceled due to the Thomas Fire, but a free pair of glasses was also being offered to kids for the school year as the flood crisis hit.

The complimentary pair of glasses will go to anyone who lost their glasses, left them during the evacuation or had them broken in the Montecito catastrophe.

A prescription is necessary, but an eye doctor is on site to take care of that if the customer has the need.

Feldman says he realizes the urgency for the flood victims to have the vision they require for emergency documents and information.
