SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Crews blasting the asphalt with sprayers are removing mud from Coast Village Road after the recent storm disaster.

Power sprayers were working in the 1200 block which was hit hard in front of businesses including CVS, Los Arroyos, Lucky's and the Montecito Inn.

A date for the reopening of the street has not been announced.

Seeing the aggressive work in this area is encouraging for those who are displaced.

The road is being used for emergency vehicles to go back and forth in the disaster zone since Highway 101 remains closed until at least Monday.

The City of Santa Barbara has met with business owners and community leaders in the area to help them recover from the economic hit they are taking.    A study showed over 70 businesses are located on this stretch located on the eastern end of Santa Barbara next to Montecito.

It consists of financial institutions,  apparel shops, restaurants,  a grocery store and housing units.
