Mom told to stop spanking child for 2 years
Virginia woman avoids felony charge in unusual plea deal
A mother in Virginia avoids a child cruelty charge on one condition -- she stop spanking her daughter for two years.
Felisha Kimble-Tanks, a local dentist, was charged with the felony earlier this year after hitting her 6-year-old daughter with a leather belt, Norfolk TV station WTKR reported.
She told police it was punishment for her daughter acting up in school.
Her estranged husband filed a complaint after finding bruises on the girl, according to police.
Stafford Circuit Judge Michael Levy told Kimble-Tanks the case would be dismissed in two years if she stays out of trouble and doesn't use corporal punishment during that time, WKTR reported.
