SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. -

A police pursuit across the Central Coast ended with an arrest.  The chase started just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday on Highway 41 outside of Paso Robles.

The California Highway Patrol followed the car onto Highway 46 then onto surface streets in Paso Robles continuing onto Highway 101 and exiting at Los Osos Valley road.

The CHP monitored the car from the air, but units on the ground backed off because of safety concerns as the driver got closer to the Amgen Tour in Pismo Beach. Eventually the man jumped out of the car and ran.

Officers caught him in the area of Paseo Ladera Lane and Erhart Road off Old Oak Park Road near Pismo Beach. Officers say the man refused to identify himself, was wearing body armor and was armed with a 9 millimeter gun.

CHP Officials said the car was stolen from a Santa Maria home that was also burglarized. The man was later identified as wanted parolee 41-year-old Angel Herrera III.
