SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

Police in Santa Maria are looking for a suspect who shot and injured a 29-year old man late Wednesday night. The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. near Armstrong Park in the 1000 block of East Chapel Street.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the injured victim next to his vehicle. The Santa Maria resident was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. He current condition in unknown, but police say he is expected to survive.

The identity of the suspect is unknown after fleeing the scene in an unidentified vehicle before police arrived. An investigation is now in progress and police are asking the public for any help in identifying the suspect. A motive for the shooting is unknown.
