A Paso Robles man was arrested Friday on charges of animal cruelty after a steer was set on fire at Paso Robles High School.
The 5-month old animal was part of the former FFA program and was housed on the high school campus. It received significant burn injuries but did survive with extensive medical treatment.
Garrett Kaplan, 23 was arrested by Paso Robles police on Friday. In a news release issued Monday, police said the arrest followed months of investigation and interviews with people associated with the animal.
The charges against Kaplan are felonies. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County jail after his arrest.
