Rio District Considers Bond Measure

Written by Tracy Lehr

Another school district may put a bond measure on the November ballot.

The Rio School District wants to study whether voters would agree to extend a current bond so that 2.5 five million dollars in upcoming budget cuts won't hurt as much.

The district has agreed to pay more than six thousand dollars to hire a firm to do a scientific phone survey.

A measure would get the 55 percent of the vote to pass.

The new Interim Superintendent says money is needed to repair old school buildings and buy computers for all 8 schools that are already hard wired to use them.

Dr. Howard says the current measure is a 30-dollar fee on every 100 thousand dollars in real estate property.

The survey results will be evaluated late next month.
