Mortgage Settlement Deadline

Written by KEY News Staff

The deadline for California to join a nationwide multi-billion dollar mortgage settlement is here.

The 25-billion dollar deal is intended to provide financial assistance to troubled homeowners and to overhaul foreclosure practices.

But California's Attorney General has criticized the deal because banks would avoid further legal action by the state.

Janet Dorsey, the former President of the Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors says there are pros and cons on both sides of the issue.

Dorsey of Keller Williams Realtor say they are seeing pent up demand for foreclosed properties.

They are even seeing multiple offers.

Realtors don't think a settlement will change that.
