More Pangas and Pot Found

Written by Tracy Lehr

It's been a busy week for smuggling.

Homeland Security Agents, the US Coast Guard and the National Guard as well as other agencies have been watching for smuggling overnight and it has paid off.

Since Tuesday the Coast Guard has recovered 500 kilos or more than a thousand pounds of marijuana floating in bundles near the Channel Islands off Ventura County.

Divers looked for a sunken boat but didn't find one.

On Wednesday they found a panga boat adrift off Montecito.

But investigators think it was a case human trafficking not drug smuggling.

They found two life jackets on board and 20 on the beach.

The suspects got away.

But that wasn't the case Saturday when agents arrested three suspects at Point Dume near Malibu.

That where they also found a panga boat with marijuana on board.

The Department of Homeland Security has a hotline set up.

If you see anything suspicious you're urged to call 1-866-DHS-2ICE.
