Kingdom Center Oxnard

Written by Tracy Lehr

More than a dozen churches created the first Kingdom Center by transforming Ventura's City Center Motel into housing for the homeless.

Now the finishing touches are being put on the second Kingdom Center.

Volunteers are transforming a property that the city of Oxnard owns.

There is enough room to help about 36 people with transitional and emergency housing.

Several women and children have already moved in.

They included two expectant mothers who were allowed to being their dogs.

In return temporary residents have to make a daily effort to improve their lives.

Harbor Community Church Pastor Sam Gallucci spearheaded the fundraising.

Organizers and volunteers are planning an open house for the community coming up on Saturday February 25th.

The community is welcome and so are donations.

The property could use some landscaping and gardening if anyone is willing to help.
