Camarillo Walmart Proposal

Written by KEY News Staff

Walmart posted an application to sell alcohol on the window of a vacant, " Linens n Things," at the Camarillo Town Center Plaza.

Camarillo City Manager Bruce Feng says the company has proposed a Walmart Express.

A Walmart Express is smaller than a super center but still has groceries and a pharmacy.

Since the location is an existing building the city of Camarillo won't have final approval.

But the city and state will have a say on the license to sell alcohol.

Shoppers at Target, just a few doors down, say it will create competition.

You are not likely to see the kind of protests that took place outside another proposed Walmart in Ventura.

Ventura City Manager Rick Cole says Walmart has slowed plans for a Ventura store while it waits for the outcome a local lawsuit filed against another non union store trying to move into an old Mervyn's store.
