Injured Hiker Rescued from Bishop's Peak

Written by KEY News Staff

San Luis Obispo - A 25-year-old woman was rescued Thursday afternoon after falling during a hike on Bishop's Peak in San Luis Obispo.

The woman was hiking just before five in the evening when she fell and injured her ankle. Unable to hike back down the mountain, her fiance called 911 to get her medical help.

Cal fire, San Luis Obispo City Fire and Santa Barbara County's helicopter all helped in the rescue.

After about an hour of planning and accessing the victim's injuries the Santa Barbara County helicopter hoisted the victim off the mountain and transported her to the hospital.

The San Luis Obispo Fire Department would like to remind you to be safe while hiking and remember to take along water, a flashlight, and a cell phone in case of an emergency.
