"We Are The 99 Percent" Continues

Written by KEYT Anchor

Ventura - Occupy Wall Street protests continued through the weekend.

Demonstrators gathered at Mission Park in Ventura to push for political and economic change.

Attorney Jay Leiderman says he wants to see fewer politicians influenced by money from corporations.

"They should be accountable to the 99 percent of their constituency. This is about the removal of corporate money from political influence," he says.

Protestor John Wessel has a degree in mathematics and is well-versed in monetary theory. He says the Federal Reserve System's actions have been harming the value of the American dollar.

"The long-term trend line, if you look from 1971, money has lost most of its value. So I'm concerned about eventual collapse in the dollar, which will be very destabilizing - more so than a few so-called "too-big-to-fail" banks going under," he says.
