Video From Isla Vista Fire Bomb Gets Close Review

Investigators hope for a break in the current attack and unsolved November case

Written by KEYT Reporter

Santa Barbara County Sheriff and Fire investigators have alerted Homeland Security officials and the F.B.I. about the recent fire bomb attack at the Isla Vista Foot Patrol Office. They are trying to see if there is a connection to an attack in November. In both cases there was property damage but no one was hurt.

Video cameras were working during the Sunday night attack, but Sgt. Brad McVay says when overhead fire sprinklers went off, the camera shot was obscured. Detectives are "looking over whatever video might be available from our cameras and cameras in the surrounding areas to see if they can identify any kind of suspect," said McVay.

A nearby resident returning from vacation said she was surprised that the building would be attacked twice. "I really am shocked that it happened," said Lauren Oaks, a UC Santa Barbara student.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office at 805-681-4100 or the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip Line at 805-681-4171.
