Two Brothers Killed in Car Accident

Oxnard- Emergency personnel were called to Victoria Avenue near Gonzalez Road Thursday night shortly after 7pm on the report of a two car accident.

Once on scene, officers found an overturned red Ford compact on its roof with the female passenger trapped inside.

26-year-old Shannon Martinez was successfully extricated and taken to an area hospital where she is reportedly in stable condition.

Police say the driver of the car that crashed into her was driven by 25-year-old Jorge Fernandez. Both he and his brother, 15-year-old Alfredo, died at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates the BMW driven by Fernandez was heading north on Victoria Avenue...when he began passing other northbound traffic by driving in the dirt center median.

He apparently lost control....and slid into the oncoming car driven by Martinez.

That section of roadway was closed until after midnight while police investigated the accident.
