Santa Barbara- Another big night at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Film legend Martin Scorsese was awarded this year's American Riviera Award. The award recognizes an artist whose had a strong influence on American cinema, and this will be the first time it has been given to a director.

Crowds of adoring fans surrounded the Arlington Theater, and the person selected to present the night's award to Scorsese, was none other than, Academy Award winning actor Ben Kingsley-- whose in the directors latest film, "Hugo."

Throughout his extraordinary career, Scorsese has brought his unique vision to life in a series of unforgettable films. Based on a NY times bestseller, Hugo, his first in 3D, takes viewers on a thrilling journey through a magical world. Leading the pack, Hugo is up for 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
