Arraignment Continued in Pedestrian Fatality Case

Written by Beth Farnsworth

Deputy Public Defender Deedrea Edgar requested that arraignment for her client, Manuel Flores, Jr., be postponed until March 2nd, citing the teen's age of 19 and the large amount of evidence in the case.

This was the second postponement in more than a month.

Flores faces vehicular manslaughter in the death of 15 year old Sergio Romero, who was struck and killed last October while crossing Milpas Street at Ortega.

The Romero family remains hopeful that a final decision, or settlement, might be reached before the next scheduled hearing.

Meanwhile, the city is expected to make a final decision in six weeks, on what type of change needs to be made in order to make that intersection safer.
