Written by Kateri Wozny

Santa Barbara - A man is seriously injured after a suspect assaulted him near a city parking lot Sunday morning.

It happened at about 1:20 a.m. in the 700 block of Anacapa St.

Santa Barbara Police officials say officers found Alexander George Milovich, 26, unconscious and convulsing with a seizure, with blood on his face and on the ground.

A witness called in the suspect's vehicle and officers were able to locate it a few blocks away from the crime scene. Four occupants were detained and Tyler Zamora Lopez, 23, was identified as the person who attacked Milovich. He was arrested for felony battery resulting in great bodily injury and was booked at Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $50,000.

The driver, Nicolas Gabriel Ramirez, 31, was found to be DUI and carrying marijuana. He was cited and released. An unloaded revolver, ammunition and a cartridge casing were also located inside of the vehicle

Milovich was transported to Cottage Hospital where he was admitted to the ICU with a broken nose, skull fracture and brain bleed. Milovich was initially unable to provide a statement to police due to a brain injury that affected his ability to recall the details of that night.

Milovich was released from Cottage Hospital and is being cared for by his family. He is expected to make a full recovery.
