Summer Jobs Dry up For Teens

Written by KEYT Reporter

Teenagers are having to rely more and more on their parents for cash.

They've had a hard time all summer finding work.

In July the Labor Department said the percentage of Teens looking for work was 26.5 percent.
That's a slight drop from the month before, but statistics show it's the toughest summer for teen job seekers since 1948.

They are competing with out of work adults and new college grads.

The only silver lining is that retailers are offering deeper back to school discounts because their teen customers don't all have discretionary cash.
