State Workers May Get IOU'S Instead of Paychecks

Written by KEYT Reporter

If California doesn't get a new state budget soon state workers may start getting I-O-U's.

California could owe workers like those at the Department of Motor Vehicles money until a budget is signed by the governor.

Governor Schwarzenegger says he won't sign anything unless it deals with budget , tax and pension reforms.

One budget reform is on the state ballot.

Proposition 25 would change the number of people needed to pass a budget from a 2/3rd majority to a simple majority.

Voters say lawmakers should taste their own IOU medicine before they issue them to workers as early as August.
