A Santa Barbara woman says she was among a group of students in 1990 who witnessed the odd behavior of a former Los Angeles teacher, arrested for felony molestation.

Nadine Martinez-Rodriguez remembers Mark Berndt, her fourth grade teacher at Miramonte Elementary School, as a man obsessed with "short-shorts," who kept Vaseline in his drawer and often kept his hands hidden behind his desk for long periods at a time.

The 61-year-old former teacher is being held on 23 million dollars bail for felony molestation of at least 23 students from 2008 to 2010.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's official confirms a second teacher at the same elementary school was arrested earlier today for lewd acts involving two girls.
