Image Gallery: Santa Barbara International Film Fest's Opening Night

Santa Barbara - The 27th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival kicked off Thursday night.

The festival features films from more than forty countries around the globe, drawing in some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including more than twenty academy award nominees. The festival launched with the World Premiere of "Darling Companion," starring Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline, and with the new Pixar animated short film, La Luna.

State street was shutdown from Victoria to Sola Street, and large crowds of people gathered to get a glimpse of their favorite stars. The festival draws in more than 70-thousand people annually.

Viola Davis will be receiving the Film Festival's "Outstanding performer of the year award," for her role in the help.
