SBPD To Use Text Messaging For Important Incidents

Santa Barbara - Residents and visitors of Santa Barbara can now receive important information from the Santa Barbara Police Department through Nixle, a notification service used by many law enforcement and government agencies.

Messages will be delivered by email, SMS/text message and through the Internet. Notifications include missing children and adults, police activity, crime activity, community interest information and crime trends.

Information can be received online and via e-mail. Residents receive messages by phone as part of their text messaging plan.
