UPDATE: Autopsy For Mammoth Lakes Doctor Schedueld For Friday

Written by KEY News Staff

Santa Barbara - An autopsy for a man charged with sex crimes involving a 14-year-old girl is scheduled for Friday in Orange County.

Dr. Andrew Bourne and businessman Joseph Walker have both been charged with sex crimes involving a 14-year-old Santa Barbara girl.

The suspects were let out of jail recently when bail was posted after it was reduced from $1 million to $750,000.

Bourne's attorney Ron Bamieh has confirmed what we first reported Tuesday night that Bourne has died. He was found in a rural area and our sources say he took his own life. Authorities tracked him through an ankle bracelet he was wearing as ordered by the court.

Bamieh says details on this case were exaggerated and Bourne was frustrated at the way he was portrayed.

"What the prosecution has done is they tried to act like these gentlemen were acting in some kind of concert. That's contrary to the facts of this case," he says. "They had a separate relationship with this young lady. Walker is charged with actually having sexual intercourse with this lady."

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley is out of town but responded in this case saying that "the entire situation is heart wrenching." Dudley is expected to file an amended complaint in the case involving Joseph Walker soon.

The next court date is Feb. 10.
