Randy and Evi Quaid Speak Out

Written by KEYT Anchor

Santa Barbara - The saga of Randy and Evi Quaid continues.

For the first time in months, they're speaking out directly about the charges they face and the alleged conspiracy against them in Santa Barbara County.

According to the Associated Press, Randy Quaid does want to come back to the United States and continue his acting career, but will not return until the charges against him and the charges against his wife are dropped.

Randy and Evi Quaid say they're being persecuted by prosecutors in Santa Barbara County, notably Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter. The district attorney's office adamantly denies any wrong doing.

Randy and Evi Quaid were allegedly unaware of their court appearance last October before they left for Canada and believe they are being falsely accused of fleeing the country.

The couple is wanted for a felony vandalism charge after being arrested in September 2010 for allegedly squatting in a guest house in Montecito. Court records show Santa Barbara Bail Bonds posted $500,000 each for Evi and Randy Quaid.
