REI Opens in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara- Recreational Equipment Inc., known as REI, has made its way to Santa Barbara; and Thursday night, they held a community reception. The retail co-op specializes in outdoor gear, and is set to bring an economic boost to the city.

The store is located off of U.S. Highway 101 between Anacapa and State Street. REI will bring 60 new jobs to Santa Barbara, and through their Community Resource Center, they strive to educate, protect the environment, and give back

Through it's network of volunteers, REI will work hand in hand with local non-profits. The more than 24-thousand square foot store will be offering a variety of free clinics and classes on such topics as backpacking, kayaking, cycling, bike maintenance, and much more.

Doors officially open Friday morning, but the grand opening will be November 18th.
