Quaid Bond Controversy

Written by KEYT Anchor

Santa Barbara - Actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have until November 10 to appear in a Santa Barbara Courtroom
or else the bail bond company that got them out of jail will be forced to forfeit $1 million.

The Quaids were arrested last September after allegedly squatting in a guest house in Montecito. Court records show Santa Barbara Bail Bonds posted $500,000 each. Since then, they have yet to appear in a local courtroom and have since fled to Canada.

If they do not appear by November 10, the bail bond company may be forced to forfeit that money and it would go directly to Santa Barbara County's General Fund.

Meanwhile, the district attorney's office may have hit a roadblock in trying to get the couple back to Santa Barbara, but it doesn't mean they are off the hook. Recently, the Department of Justice denied a request to have the actor and his wife extradited from Canada. However, there is still an arrest warrant out for the Quaids if they step foot back in the United States.

Santa Barbara Bail Bonds has declined to comment.
