Suitcase Prompts Bomb Scare At Local Post Office

The Ventura County Bomb Squad responded to Port Hueneme after a suspicious package was found at a post office on the 500 block of Pleasant Valley Road.

Police and fire authorities were on scene, as the post office was evacuated. The Port Hueneme Police Department said they received the call just before 1 p.m.

Witnesses on scene tell KEY News the item appeared to be a suitcase or briefcase.

Members of bomb squad assessed the scene, and determined the suitcase posed no threat.
