Popular Santa Barbara Book and Gift Store Closing

It's the last chapter for a popular Santa Barbara book, magazine and gift store. Read N' Post on Coast Village Road is not getting a lease renewal and has started to close down.

The store is expected to be empty by April 1st.

"Actually our customers have been devastated to hear the news. They love coming here. They see a lot of their friends in here. It's kind of a nice meeting place and they can do various things like buy their magazines, mail their letters and packages and, you know, our customers are great we just love them. We are absolutely heart sick that we are having to close," said store manager Jan Hendrickson. She has worked there 15 years.

The owners hope to find a new location as soon as possible, but nothing has been worked out as of this morning.

Many items in the store are now half off, including cards, wrapping paper, paperbacks, and gifts.
