Nightclub Owner Responds to Stabbing Attack

Security employee knifed after breaking up a disturbance

Written by KEYT Reporter

The owner of the Velvet Jones nightclub In Santa Barbara, Craig Jenkins, calls a stabbing Friday night, "isolated." One of his employees was attacked while moving an "unruly" customer out the door.

Police say there was a fight on the dance floor, and the bouncer separated two people who were in the scuffle. A third person then reportedly stabbed the security employee in the back and everyone involved got away.

The worker was treated and released at Cottage Hospital. The injuries were not said to be life threatening.

Video cameras were rolling and police have also interviewed eyewitnesses. No arrests have been made.

The club was closed for the night after the incident, but it has since reopened.

Police say the Velvet Jones is well run and officers routinely work closely with the staff to make sure guests have a safe time when coming in for the entertainment.
