Montecito Firefighters Take Part in "Movember"

Written by KEYT Anchor

Montecito - Local Firefighters are getting rid of their facial hair, all for a good cause.

Montecito Fire District Employees are now shaving their mustaches and beards to participate in "Movember".

Movember (mustache + November) is a growing global movement that helps to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

By early November, pictures of the clean shaven firefighters will be posted on the Montecito Fireman's Association web and Facebook pages. For the rest of the month, they will groom, trim and wax their "new" facial hair to make it unique.

In the spirit of competition, the participants will be soliciting donations to support health awareness for men. Donations can be made to sponsor "Best Mustache" or "Most Pitiful Mustache". The winning mustaches will be selected by a local 'unbiased' community member. Sponsors will be competing for two prizes.

For more information on how to donate go to, www.montecitofirefighters.com or, on Facebook at, www.facebook.com/MTOFirefighters.
