Man Will Represent Himself In Gillespie Street Shooting Case

Written by KEY News Staff

Santa Barbara - A man on trial for shooting a Santa Barbara man in March 2010 will now represent himself.

Jack Mills filed a motion in Santa Barbara Superior Court to represent himself in the case after he fired his lawyer a few weeks ago. The judge granted the request Tuesday morning.

Jack and his wife, Rebecca, are charged with the March 2010 attack on Gillespie Street.

Prosecutors say that the Mills and a third unidentified man walked into a home armed with guns with the intent to rob the homeowners who had a yard sale the day before.

The Mills escaped to Nevada and were eventually caught.

They are due back in court Jan. 30.
