Man Who Hired Hitman Sentenced To Federal Prison

Written by KEY News Staff

Los Angeles - A Goleta man who was found guilty of masterminding a murder for hire plot was sentenced Monday morning.

The Department of Justice says Eugene Darryl Temkin, 51, of Goleta, was sentenced to six years in federal prison for the crime.

The FBI says Temkin wanted his former business partner, Michael Hershman, to pay him $15 million to settle his portion of a failed business venture back in 2009. Agents say he then conspired with what he thought was a hit man to kill Hershman, his wife and a business associate.

However, the hit man was really an undercover FBI agent.
