A Santa Maria man is in the hospital after being attacked by more then a dozen people Thursday night.

Police say the victim was walking along the 200 block of North Pine Street just after 10:30 when several carloads of Hispanic males drove-up.

The group of 10 to 15 people began stabbing and beating the 20-year-old victim.

He is expected to recover.

Police are not releasing the victim's name for security reasons. Officials do believe the attack was gang related.
