Local Water District Will Help Pay Bell Pensions

There's a local connection to the fallout from those Bell city employees who resigned after their high salaries were revealed.

One hundred forty government agencies.. including the Goleta Water District.. will get stuck contributing to the retirements of Bell employees because they all pay in to the California Public Employees Retirement System.

John Mcinnes with the Goleta Water District says, "We're nothing like the City of Bell. The only thing in common is we're in the same retirement pool with the State Cal PERS program...other than that there are no similarities what so ever.

The California Foundation for Fiscal Responsibility says the pensions for the Bell employees will be close to their actual salaries.

The State Attorney General has launched a formal investigation.
