Kindergarten Age Requirements Changing

Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Age requirements for your child to legally start kindergarten could soon be changing.

State lawmakers passed a bill that would require your child to turn 5-years-old by September 1st, instead of December 2nd.

Assistant Superintendent for Santa Barbara School Districts Robin Sawaski used to be a first grade teacher. She says, a law making 4-year-olds wait until they are five to start kindergarten could make a huge difference.

KEY News Reporter Ryan Carmel will have more on the pros and cons of such a change, during KEY News at 5 and 6.
