Inmate Fight Breaks Out on Jail Bus

Goleta - A fight between inmates on a jail bus led to a quick response by law enforcement officers Tuesday morning.

A half dozen sheriff's deputies, CHP, and medics were called out just at 6:40 a.m. off Highway 101.

A Sheriff's spokesperson confirms the jail bus pulled over at the Gaviota Rest Stop after a brawl broke out between four inmates. 40 inmates were on board at the time of the fight.

The bus was traveling up the coast taking inmates to their scheduled court appearances up north.

Authorities cleared all civilians from the rest area and the four inmates were removed from the bus.

The four inmates received scrapes and bruises and did not require hospital care.
