Hotel Plan at Mattei's Tavern Goes Before Planning Commission

Plans to build a hotel at the historic Mattei's Tavern in Los Olivos goes before the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission today.

The plan has already been subject to multiple reviews by the county's Central Board of Architectural Review.

Santa Rita Land and Vine LLC, which owns the property, is proposing a 64 room cottage style hotel with a small gym, pool, spa, and a meeting banquet room. It totals almost 50 thousand square feet.

Mattei's Tavern was built was back in 1886 as a stagecoach stop and was owned by generations of the Mattei family until 1963.

Today's meeting is scheduled for later this morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Planning Commission Hearing Room of the County Engineering Building.

The address is 123 East Anapamu Street in Santa Barbara.
