High Speed Chase from SB to Oxnard Ends in 3 Car Crash

Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Santa Barbara Sheriff's Deputies and CHP arrested a San Jose man this morning, following a high speed pursuit that began in Santa Barbara and ended in Oxnard on the 101 near Del Norte.

The chase began when the Sheriff's tried to pull the man over for speeding around 11am.

It turns out the car, a late model Porsche, was stolen in the Santa Barbara area.

The pursuit reached speeds of 140 miles an hour.

It ended when 33-year-old Aaron Smith failed to pass a car, slammed into the concrete wall and then crashed into two cars.

The CHP says no one was hurt.

Smith was taken into custody and will face a variety of charges including evading arrest and auto theft.

Traffic in the area was backed up for several hours while the scene was cleared.
