GPS Leads to Auto Burglary Arrest

Written by Tracy Lehr

When a car burglar stole a 500 dollar iPad from a car on Laguna Street he didn't get far.

The victim realized his iPad was missing last Thursday and tracked it with a GPS application.

Within 12 hours Santa Barbara Detectives arrested the suspect and found the iPad and other stolen property in a room he rented in a Cheltenham Road home.

Police say 23-year-old Cameron Hadighi admitted to taking the iPad and a radar detector and other devices.

Hadighi is also accused of breaking into four cars at a hotel on Cabrillo Boulevard and he is suspected of trying to steal a car.

He could be linked to as many as 40 auto burglaries in last two months.

Police say you can protect your car by locking up and keeping valuables out of site.

That includes chargers, police say they are a tell tale sign that valuables may be in the car.
