Flu Virus Turns Deadly for Some

The flu season appears to be going strong after a slow start.

In Ventura County, health officials say a teen and a 28-year-old died just last week from Influenza B-related complications.

There have been 11 flu related infant deaths nationwide.

Santa Barbara health officials say babies are vulnerable to flu manifestations and complications.

Doctors say flu cases typically increase during the first three months of the year, but there are easy ways to protect yourself, your families and you co- workers.

Because infants under 6-months-old are at risk and too young for vaccines, doctors recommend their parents and caregivers get flu shots to reduce the risk of spreading the illness.

Flu vaccinations are recommended for everyone six months and older .
