UPDATE: Cause of Goleta Apartment Fire

Goleta - Santa Barbara County Firefighters have released the cause of the apartment fire that happened Wednesday morning.

It happened at about At 8:55 a.m. in the 20 block of Dearborn Place.

Fire officials say the fire was caused by careless disposal of smoking materials.

On Wednesday, firefighters found heavy smoke showing from the first floor of a two story, multi-unit apartment complex. The fire was knocked down within 15 minutes and the unit was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Officials say the living room was gutted.

The adjoining apartments were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
