Find Out How Much State Assembly Members and Staff are Paid

Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Californians now can find out how much members of the state Assembly and their staff are paid by visiting the chamber's website.

On Wednesday, Assembly Speaker John Perez issued a statement announcing the move.

It comes in response to the revelations this summer that top officials in the Los Angeles County city of Bell received excessive pay and pension benefits.

The Senate posted similar information for its employees last month.

Both chambers plan to update the pay data quarterly.

State government salaries also are made available in search-able databases posted on line by various news organizations.

A bill that would have required the Legislature, statewide officers, cities and counties to report the salaries of elected officials died in the Senate last month.
