DRI Not Just About Disaster Relief

Goleta - Direct Relief International is known for shipping disaster relief supplies anywhere around the world at a moment's notice.

For two decades its sub-division Direct Relief USA has helped out tens of thousands of local residents in need as well.

Thanks to the work of dozens of volunteers and local companies, the first of two drives to create 6,000 personal care packs is underway. The packs consist of everyday hygiene and first aid supplies and cost about $50 a piece.

Once completed the packs will be distributed to more than 30 other agencies around Santa Barbara County. All in all about $300,000 in supplies will be handed out, most of which comes from donations.
